I had a mixed experience at Hotel Pelayo. The location is undoubtedly excellent, just a short walk from Plaza Catalunya and close to major attractions. However, I found the service lacking—especially my encounter with an unfriendly front desk staff. My room was clean but small and a bit outdated, which didn't quite match the higher price point for the area. Overall, I'd say it’s decent for a short stay, but I would look for better options in the future.

My room was clean, but it felt small and a bit dated. I faced a less appealing courtyard view, which was disappointing.
Service

The front desk service left much to be desired. One staff member was quite rude, which made my check-in experience unpleasant.

The hotel is perfectly situated near the city center, making it easy to explore Barcelona and access public transport.

Basic facilities; the reception requires buzzing to enter, which felt more like a hostel than a hotel.

Hotel Pelayo's location near Placa de Catalunya is definitely a strong point, making it easy to explore Barcelona. However, my stay was marred by a few downsides, including a somewhat shabby room, thin walls, and a check-in process that felt more like a hostel than a hotel. The breakfast was included, but I skipped it, so I can’t comment on that.

Rooms

My room was clean but pretty small and faced a courtyard, which wasn't the greatest view. The walls were thin, making it hard to avoid noise. Overall, it had a worn-down vibe.
Service

I had some trouble at check-in due to a mix-up with my booking. The front desk staff could be more welcoming, and I had a frustrating experience with handling additional charges.
Location

Located right in the center, it's close to many shops and just a short walk to La Rambla and the metro. This is definitely a big plus for getting around Barcelona.
Dining

Breakfast was included, but I didn't check it out, so no thoughts there. The overall dining options seemed basic.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel was pretty basic, with no fancy facilities to mention. The check-in process felt unusual, having to buzz in several times.

6.2/10

I recently stayed at Hotel Pelayo for a few nights. The location was fantastic, just a short walk from La Rambla and Catalunya Square, which made exploring the city super easy. While my room was tiny and definitely didn't offer the best view, it was clean, if a bit dated, and met my basic needs. However, I did experience some annoying noises from the area, and there were a couple of administrative hiccups during check-in and check-out that marred an otherwise decent stay.

Rooms

My single room was clean but very small, making it snug for my comfort. The bed was cozy, although taller guests might find their feet touching the walls.
Service

The staff were friendly and attentive, though there were some check-in issues. It felt more like a hostel experience where you buzz to enter.

The hotel’s location is excellent, right in the city center and very close to key attractions and the metro. I couldn't ask for a better spot!

My stay at Hotel Pelayo was a mixed bag. The location was fantastic, being close to many major attractions, but I encountered several issues during my visit. From the administrative errors at check-in and check-out to minor maintenance problems in the room, I left feeling somewhat disappointed. While the friendly staff and cleanliness of the space were highlights, I felt that the overall experience could have been much better.

Rooms
6.0
I found the room clean but quite basic and a bit outdated. The small size and a bathroom that felt cramped were not ideal (like, almost no space to sit straight on the toilet!). I also faced some inconveniences such as an air conditioning leak during my stay, which was fixed on the last night.
Service
6.0
The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, which was a definite plus. However, the check-in process was marred by errors, and I found it strange that I had to buzz to get into the reception area and give back my key every time I left.

On the bright side, the hotel's location is a major advantage. It's conveniently located near Plaça de Catalunya and within walking distance to popular areas, which made exploring Barcelona a breeze.

Basic facilities were available, but I would have appreciated enhancements like reliable air conditioning and better maintenance. Other guests mentioned issues like broken lamps and cockroaches, which is concerning.

I had a mixed experience at Hotel Pelayo during my three-night stay. The location was fantastic—just a short walk to La Rambla and Catalunya Square—but the hotel itself felt more like a hostel than a hotel. The room I stayed in was small and a bit dated, with thin walls that made it hard to sleep soundly. While the staff were generally attentive, the check-in process was a bit chaotic. Overall, it met my basic needs, but there are definitely better options available.

Rooms

The room was clean but quite tiny and dated. I could hear noise from the neighbors and had some discomfort due to the bed size.
Service

While the staff was attentive, there were some mix-ups with my booking, and the reception process felt a bit disorganized.

I loved the location as it was close to the metro and major attractions, making it very convenient for sightseeing.

The hotel lacked some basic amenities, and the hallways were noisy. The facilities were fair considering the price.
